Here are some answers to our most frequently asked questions at Remington Chiropractic.

Who can benefit from chiropractic?

Most of our patients initially seek chiropractic care for a new pain or injury. They prefer a non-drug approach and want to actively participate in their care. Many patients continue their care when they are feeling fine. In fact, periodic chiropractic treatment can help to prevent injuries and improve physical performance, helping you to maintain your active lifestyle.
Chiropractic treatment is safe and effective for individuals at all stages of life, from children to seniors. Women find chiropractic treatment to be helpful in alleviating the discomforts of pregnancy. And athletes use chiropractic care to help them recover from injuries and keep them at the top of their game.

What conditions can chiropractic help?

Chiropractic treats more than just your sore back! Dr. Wells treats nerve, bone, joint and muscular conditions throughout your entire body. We frequently see patients for back pain, sciatica, neck pain and headaches, but we also treat conditions such as tennis elbow, shoulder impingement and plantar fasciitis.

Regular chiropractic visits can help keep you healthy and moving well.

Is chiropractic safe?

Yes! Chiropractic adjustments are gentle and comfortable, and Dr. Wells chooses techniques based on your individual needs. Chiropractic adjustments are about 100 times safer than taking an over-the-counter pain reliever.

Not all conditions are treatable by chiropractic. We always start with a thorough examination to diagnose the cause of your pain and to determine if chiropractic is appropriate for you.

Why should I see a chiropractor instead of just going to my medical doctor?

Chiropractors are trained to look at your body as a whole (holistic approach), with an emphasis on how all your parts work together to keep you healthy and strong. Additionally, Doctors of Chiropractic seek to find and treat the cause of your pain, rather than just masking the symptoms with drugs. Once resolved, we educate and empower our patients to be proactive about their health, helping them to remain healthy, active and pain-free.

Your chiropractor can be your primary care provider. Doctors of Chiropractic have extensive education in diagnosis. At Remington Chiropractic we can and do refer you to your medical doctor when we feel they are better equipped to treat your condition.

How does chiropractic work? Is it scientific?

Yes, chiropractic has been proven effective by research and clinical experience! When your tendons, ligaments or muscles are injured, your nerves send and receive flawed messages. This results in pain, weakness and instability. Research shows that the chiropractic adjustment works like restarting a computer, allowing your nerves to send and receive messages correctly again. Once proper communication is restored your body can move freely and painlessly once again.

Children

Many parents are surprised to learn that children can benefit from chiropractic care. We regularly see children, from infancy through adolescence, for such common conditions as colic, ear infections and “growing pains.” Older children may suffer minor injuries from sports or other activities, that if left untreated can develop into more serious problems as they grow. While commonly passed off as “just a phase they’re going through,” any ache or pain in your child is a sign that something isn’t right.

Dr. Wells recommends that you bring your child in for regular check-ups. She also does scoliosis screenings for older children, especially if there is a family history of scoliosis.

Chiropractic adjustments are gentle and safer than giving your child an over-the-counter pain reliever. Dr. Wells knows how to make your child’s adjustment comfortable and fun for everyone involved.

Pregnant Women

During pregnancy, hormonal changes cause your ligaments to soften and loosen in preparation for the birth process. But this, and the extra weight of your growing baby, cause muscular stress and strain often resulting in back pain during pregnancy.

Chiropractic is safe for both the expectant mother and her child. Addressing the underlying reasons for your back pain with chiropractic treatment is safer than taking over-the-counter pain medications, and many OB-GYNs recommend chiropractic adjustments for their patients.

Dr. Wells has had extensive training in the treatment of women during pregnancy and enjoys helping expectant mothers during this very special time in their lives.

Seniors

As a senior, you’ve lived life and you’re bound to have a few battle scars! But that doesn’t mean you have to live with pain. With chiropractic treatment and exercise training, we can help you manage your conditions with fewer drugs and pain medications. And chiropractic treatment is safe and effective even if you have osteoporosis or arthritis. We can’t promise to make you feel twenty again, but chiropractic care can help to keep you enjoying the activities you love.

Dr. Wells is a participating provider with Medicare, and we will bill Medicare for you.

Athletes

Elite and recreational athletes alike can benefit from regular chiropractic care. The physical demands from training and competition increase an athlete’s risk of injury, especially when there are limitations or compensations from prior injuries. Regular chiropractic adjustments help to correct these compensations and prevent additional injuries from occurring. Collegiate, Olympic and professional athletes rely on chiropractic care to keep them feeling and playing their best.

Dr. Wells can also use RockTape to improve your performance in competition, and we can apply RockTape for you shortly before your next big event.
